The direct way from Niagara to OPCFor Tridium Niagara AX and N4 framework, the world standard in building automation, there is now a solution for data communication with OPC, the world standard in PC based automation, without having to detour via helper protocols such as BACnet. For direct coupling of an OPC DA classic server with AX, ProSystems GmbH now offers the PsOpcUtilities in combination with the PsOpcGServer. - PsOpcUtilities & PsOpcGServer = PsNiagara2OpcEspecially when using a JACE for integration this combination is very efficient. The data points already "standardized" at Niagara level, received via different protocols, can be mapped to OPC using a very highly performant communication path. OPC clients, such as visualization software, therefore, have easy access to data points from a large number of protocols. Installation and configuration are very simple. Just discover data points, select and add them to the Niagara OPC database, export the database and then import the export file in the OPC server. With this tool the connection of thousands of data points is done in a twinkling of an eye. A sophisticated feature is the automatic generation of often used utility data points, such as the point status or for outputs "Override Value" point, while populating the database, and without wasting "KRUs"

PsOpcGServerThe OPC server is a generic solution, unique on the market. A generic solution means that the PsOpcGServer is not only able to handle Niagara communication, it can also to connect to protocols like Modbus, SML or EnOcean via gateway programs directly on the PC level. This feature is very interesting for those applications using protocols with no or only limited Niagara support, e.g. SML, the "Smart Meter" protocol.

The direct way from Niagara to OPC
The OPC Utilities software license OAS OPC Utilities in combination with the OPC Server enables the direct data exchange between the Niagara AX Framework and an OPC-DA Classic Client. ,
OAS OPC Utilities can be used on the integration platforms HAWK and Eaglehawk from CentraLine by Honeywell as well as on JACE 8000 from Tridium or depending on the application on the supervisor. The data points of different protocols already "standardized" on the AX level can thus be mapped to OPC. OPC clients, such as energy monitoring and management systems, visualization software and open building management systems (BMS), thus have direct access to data points from a wide range of typical building automation technology protocols.
Installation and configuration are very simple.
After installing PsOpcUtilities on an AX platform, data points can be discarded, selected and added to the AX database. The export file of the database created with the export function is read directly in PsOpcServer. This completes the connection of even several thousand data points.Â
The auxiliary data points frequently required per AX data point, such as the AX point status or for outputs the "Override Value" point, are automatically generated as well, without occupying "KRUs".
Niagara Powered Controller with N4.10 or higher should be connected to at least one OAS SBS IOM I/O Modbus fieldbus module.
Niagara Powered Controller or Supervisor: 500 points / 1000 points / 5000 points / 10000 points / 20000 points.
Niagara Powered Controller or Supervisor with N4.8 or higher connected to a licensed ProSystems-OPC-DA-Server.
